This section of the course is designed to help identify what is needed for quality improvement in patient care and health care systems, and the importance of health information to measure process and outcome. Both the quality of care and useful information systems are important attributes of good health systems.

In this activity, you will reflect on one of the six dimensions of quality healthcare and consider, for addiction-related settings in your country or region, how this dimension might be improved and the potential role of information in that improvement.
Step 1. Select [5 minutes]
Select one from the 6 dimensions of quality healthcare below:
- Safety
- Effectiveness
- Person-centeredness
- Accessibility, Timeliness, Affordability
- Equity
- Efficiency
Step 2. Analyze [30 minutes]
Reflect and analyze how this dimension can be improved for addiction-related settings in your country or region.
Step 3. Respond [105 minutes]
Prepare a 200-400 word reflective piece of writing that covers the following components:
- Current issues relating to the chosen dimension in addiction settings in your country or region
- Ways to improve the selected dimension to address the needs in an addiction-related setting (list at least 2 potential solutions)
- Potential role of information in the improvement of the chosen dimensions of quality healthcare in addiction-related settings
Step 4. Share [10 minutes]
