    • In this learning activity, you will assess the hypothetical scenario and respond accordingly.

      Step 1: Analyze

Study the hypothetical case scenario below. After studying, analyze how such a situation could have been avoided and how group performance may be enhanced or optimized.

      1. Nadia, Samuel, and Clara were assigned to complete a project for work. Nadia and Samuel briefly communicated via email and agreed upon a theme for the project and divided the work. They later consulted Clara on their idea and assigned her a part. However, Clara had a different opinion yet agreed with their idea. Without truly understanding the rationale behind their idea, Clara struggled to complete her part. On the other hand, her teammates were unaware of her struggles. In the end, they were unable to present the full project. The manager also indicated that they should have taken a different route.

      Step 2: Respond

Write an assessment of 200-450 words in length for the hypothetical scenario above. Consider the following points for your assessment:

      • Use psychological concepts to explain what happened with Clara.
      • How this scenario could have been avoided.
      • Explore ways in which people can work together to make group decision-making more effective.

      Step 3: Share

To share your work, click on the button at the bottom of the screen “Add a new discussion topic.” Include the title of your work and paste your work on the “message” box. Make sure to reference others’ intellectual property when necessary. All references should follow 7th Edition APA formatting; see the resource on the Himmelfarb Health Sciences Library for instructions: APA citation resource (references are excluded from word counts).

      Step 4: Interact

To complete the activity, you will need to reply to at least two posts made by your peers in a respectful and professional manner. Be sure that your post engages your peers' ideas by including a reflection on their comments, sharing ideas of other potential difficulties and parties involved, or asking thought-provoking questions. If a peer comments on your posting, please reply. To post a reply, click “Reply” on a particular discussion, write your feedback and then click on “Post to forum.” Use the following as a guide:

      • Do you agree or disagree with your peer’s method of improving group performance?
      • Do you share a different opinion on how the scenario could have been avoided?

OPTIONAL Step 5: Interact (10 minutes)

If you would like to, you can reply to your peers' posts in a respectful and professional manner. Ensure that your post engages your peers' ideas by including a reflection on their comments, sharing ideas of other potential difficulties and parties involved, or asking thought-provoking questions. If a peer comments on your posting, please reply. To post a reply, click “Reply” on a particular discussion, write your feedback and then click on “Post to forum.”
